Junior Athlete Sponsorship

KVSSP/MBMC Young Athlete and Performer Sponsorship 2016-2017

In 2003, Kiewa Valley Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy joined Mount Beauty Medical Centre in providing high quality health care services to local residents and visitors to the Upper Kiewa Valley and Falls Creek. This year we are pleased to announce the sixth annual KVSSP/MBMC Young Athlete/Performer Sponsorship.

As partner organisations, our aim is to improve the health and wellbeing of our community.  Physical activity is a proven and enjoyable way to improve your wellbeing (both physical and mental) and we encourage all members of the community to be as physically active as possible, whether through sport and recreation (for example, skiing, cricket, athletics, cycling) or through the ‘active’ performing arts (such as dance and calisthenics).  In November 2016, Kiewa Valley Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy and the Mount Beauty Medical Centre will offer a sponsorship worth $500 to two junior athletes or performers to assist them in their active endeavours.

KVSSP MBMC Sponsorship Award

Press Release December 2015

Kiewa Valley Sports & Spinal Physiotherapy and the Mount Beauty Medical Centre are pleased to announce the awarding of the fifth annual KVSSP/MBMC Young Athlete and Performer Sponsorships. The sponsorships intend to foster physical activity in young people between 12 and 17 by providing sponsorships of $500 to go towards the costs of involvement in sport or the ‘active’ performing arts. The sponsorships are not specifically targeted at the elites of any given sport, but rather to support those who expend a significant amount of time, effort and enthusiasm to achieve their best in their chosen endeavour. Last year’s winners were Cooper Cappellari, Tyra Hunt and Jarrah Forrer.  This year’s winners are Indi Drew and Brodie Townsend

Indi is a dedicated dancer, dancing around 20 hrs each week in Wodonga and has been selected in the Australian Ballet School training program for the last three years. She plans to use the sponsorship to help her to take up a dance scholarship to the National Ballet Academy in Denver, Colorado, USA in June 2016. Brodie has played basketball for 12 years and has had to travel considerable distances to pursue his sport as basketball development pathways in rural Victoria are limited.  He was recently selected to represent the Sunbury Jets in the Victorian Junior Basketball League Under 20 competition.  His ambitions include travel to the USA and playing college basketball like Australian basketball legend Andrew Gaze.

Mount Beauty Medical Centre Director, Dr Mark Zagorski said “We had quite a number of young athletes apply this year, any of whom would have been worthy winners”. KVSSP Practice Principal, Greg McLennan said “Indi and Brodie have demonstrated exceptional commitment to dance and basketball respectively and we hope that this sponsorship helps them on their way to achieving their goals.

The KVSSP/MBMC Young Athlete and Performer sponsorship for 2016-17 will be seeking applications in October 2016.
